Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: Oct 24, 2026
1. Why this policy exists
Openshard exists so teams can trust what their AI coding agents did. This Acceptable Use Policy sets out what you may not do with the Openshard website, dashboard, API, GitHub App and merge gate (the "Services"). It forms part of our Terms & Conditions. The open-source software is governed by its own licence.
2. Receipts must be honest
- Do not forge, alter or replay Receipts, or try to get around their signatures or checks.
- Do not use the Services to present work as verified when it was not, or to mislead reviewers, customers, auditors or anyone else about how work was done.
- Do not tamper with the merge gate or its rules to let unverified work through without the approval of your organisation's owners.
3. Keep your data appropriate
- Only sync data you have the right to share.
- Do not deliberately send secrets, credentials, source code or other people's sensitive personal data to the Services.
- Do not use the Services to store or share illegal content.
4. Do not misuse the Services
- Do not break, probe or test the security of the Services without our written permission. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to us privately.
- Do not access accounts, organisations or data that are not yours.
- Do not overload the Services, get around rate limits or plan limits, or send automated traffic beyond normal use of the API.
- Do not copy, scrape or reverse engineer the hosted Services to build a competing product. This does not limit your rights under the open-source licence.
- Do not resell, sublicense or share access to the Services without a written agreement with us.
- Do not use the Services to send spam or malware, or to harass anyone.
5. Follow the law
Do not use the Services to break any law or regulation, including export controls and sanctions, or to infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
6. What happens if this policy is broken
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break this policy. Where reasonable, we will contact you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Serious or illegal misuse may be reported to the authorities.
7. Reporting misuse
To report misuse of the Services or a security issue, email michael@openshard.dev. Please include as much detail as you can.
